Dear students,
We received the following invitation to a great event for math students at the end of their bachelor’s degree (or fifth semester in a diploma programme), because there is a lot to learn and discover at the spring school “Geometry and Symmetry” at the University of Paderborn!
„Dear students,
On March 2, the Spring School Geometry and Symmetry will start at the University of Paderborn – an exciting opportunity for students at the end of their bachelor’s degree in mathematics.
Participation is free of charge, and up to 30 people will also receive free accommodation and a travel allowance of 80 euros.
In brief:
- When? The Spring School runs from March 2 to March 6, 2026. The application deadline is January 31.
- What is it about? Three short lecture series with accompanying exercises will introduce exciting topics that combine familiar fundamentals from calculus, algebra, and geometry. Short research presentations will provide insights into current topics.
- Where? Directly at the University of Paderborn.
- Who is it for? Mathematics students who are at the end of their bachelor’s degree.
- Interested? You can find all the information and the registration form at go.upb.de/GeomSym.
The lectures cover the following topics:
Hyperbolic geometry – Stephan Stadler (University of Paderborn)
Modular forms – Rebecca Strathausen (TU Darmstadt)
Discrete groups and hyperbolic surfaces – Tobias Weich (University of Paderborn)
No prior knowledge is necessary. The knowledge acquired in the first five semesters is completely sufficient.
All further information can be found on the website at go.upb.de/GeomSym. Contact information for further inquiries is also available there. We look forward to seeing you in Paderborn!“
