Fakultätsweihnachtsmann auf der Fakultätsweihnachtsfeier 2025 im EAC

Faculty Christmas Party 2025

At this year’s faculty Christmas party, there was plenty to see and marvel at! Seven well-behaved first-semester students received wonderful gifts from our faculty Santa Claus—though not without something in return! We enjoyed literary contributions from our freshmen, beautiful Christmas music, witnessed enchanting performances, and received introductions to the Erzgebirge way of celebrating Christmas. Immediately afterward, third-semester mathematics students delighted us with their unique interpretation of DorFuchs‘ song „Binomische Formeln“ (Binomial Formulas), where singing along was naturally allowed and encouraged (now we can finally compute the square of a sum!). Many thanks to all for these wonderful contributions!

Following this, we tested our faculty members‘ knowledge of obscure facts in mathematics, computer science, and of course Christmas topics, as deputy FSR1 chairperson Martin Wille hosted the quiz show „Wer weiß denn sowas – FSR1 Christmas Party Edition“. Participants learned about esoteric programming languages, Santa Claus, and what makes Nepal’s flag so special. The excitement lasted until the grand finale, where Team Mathematics emerged victorious against Team Computer Science.

The evening was rounded off with delicious mulled wine, non-alcoholic punch, festive sweets, and relaxed chats with colleagues and fellow students.

We thank everyone who joined us this year, wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, and look forward to seeing you next year!

The calendar year is slowly drawing to a close, but an important event before your well‑deserved turn of the year is still to come: the traditional FSR1 Christmas party!

On 03 December 2025 we therefore invite you from 8 p.m. onward to the premises of the EAC to eat cookies, drink punch, play games, and unwrap presents together…
Wait, presents? Of course, because without them Christmas would only be half as nice, so get ready for the probably most important part of the evening: the freshman Secret Santa! As freshmen, gather either alone or in small groups and procure a gift worth about €5 up to a maximum of €10 (it doesn’t have to be brand new, the main thing is that it comes from the heart and your recipient can still be happy about it). At the Christmas party you can then receive a gift from the faculty Santa — but only in exchange for a short artistic, sporting, cultural or generally entertaining performance (about 5 minutes; Santa likes many things, so be bold!).
Note: Only one gift needs to be brought per group, and only one will be handed out.

After the traditional freshman Secret Santa, a comprehensive entertainment program awaits you. This includes several exciting games in which you can compete in groups of students and professors/lecturers against each other.
If you are not playing yourself at the moment, this also offers the opportunity to enjoy the Christmas atmosphere of the EAC and have cozy conversations with faculty members.

To get into the Christmas spirit already before the actual Christmas party, you can listen from 6:30 p.m. at the Schlossplatzquartier SPQ‑1301 to a series of Christmas lectures by various professors from Faculty 6 and Faculty 1. These lectures will end around 7:30 p.m., so that you can arrive at the EAC relaxed and on time.

We look forward to you and your ideas, and also to your large turnout!
Yours, FSR1
